NFA (National Film Archive) for Prague

School project at CTU, studio of Ondřej Císler and Tomáš Oth (2012),
interior: school project at studio of Vladimír Soukenka (2015).

The National Film Archive building is situated at a narrow long site (150x15m) between railway and a busy street. This site, thanks to its dynamics and linearity, refers to a film, but designed archive reminds it also by its appearance similar to movie cities like Gotham or Metropolis, or by its windows, which like film frames reflect a „movie“ of the surroundings, and its half-sized raster refers to a movie coulisse and also to unreality and dreaminess, which is also embodied in grayscale interior inspired by film expresionism. Welcome to the world of film.
